At least ten young people caused wild scenes in Schwanenstadt (Upper Austria) on Sunday evening. A verbal altercation in the town square became so heated that the bullies attacked each other with kicks, punches and glass bottles. Police later found an injured man (20) lying on the ground.
Six police patrols and two ambulances had to be called in because at least ten people between the ages of 16 and 22 had completely lost control of themselves. For some, alcohol was also involved when the situation escalated around 3 a.m. in the town square in Schwanenstadt.
Insults as a trigger
According to the police, the reason was probably a 22-year-old insulting several young people, followed by a real mass brawl involving at least ten people; all the young bullies come from the area.
Only when the attacks involving kicks, punches and glass bottles subsided did police officers find a 20-year-old local man on the ground not far from the town square. He was probably injured in the fight and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital in Vöcklabruck.

Bystanders filmed the wild scenes. The majority of the suspects have therefore already been identified in the vicinity of the incident.
