On Sunday evening there was a tragic apartment fire in Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. A Viennese man was taken to hospital with serious burns.
Around 9 p.m., passers-by on Sechshauser Strasse noticed smoke coming from a window. They immediately alerted the emergency services. After opening the door, a 50 to 60-year-old man was found, fire spokesman Gerald Schimpf reported on Monday.
Second and third degree burns
The man was brought to safety and handed over to Vienna’s professional rescue service. The injured man was taken to hospital with second and third degree burns. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, checked the adjacent apartments and were on scene for about an hour in total.
