As police have only now announced, a 26-year-old called the state police control center last Friday and said he had planted a bomb at the train station in Feldkirch.
After the call reached the director around 7 p.m., the station building and surrounding area were evacuated. More than a hundred people have been brought to safety. Train traffic was stopped. The building, the surrounding area and all containers were searched by police officers familiar with explosives. However, they found nothing.
However, during their operation, they noticed a man near the train station. Police soon found out it was the caller. The 26-year-old even had the cell phone he was using with him.
Drunk beyond thirst
He could not say why he had called the police and told them a bomb had been planted. Excessive drinking may have led to him telling the story to the police. An alcohol test performed was positive.
The suspect was taken to prison on the orders of the Feldkirch Public Prosecutor’s Office. A request for pre-trial detention was submitted. The station area was closed for about 30 minutes.
