For a 15-year-old, the walk home on Wednesday evening was a horror: near a tram station in Vienna-Penzing, the boy was threatened with an empty pistol during an attempted robbery by a group of teenagers of the same age.
The victim was approached by a group of young people, after which the suspect demanded the victim’s jacket. Meanwhile, the Austrian pulled out the suspected firearm, repeated once, and allegedly held it against the victim’s abdomen. Despite the threat, the victim managed to escape.
Teenagers hid in the toilet facility
Based on the descriptions of the perpetrator and his companions, three male teenagers were spotted in the vicinity of a train station during an immediate search. In the presence of police, they “quickly left and went to a toilet facility where they could be stopped,” as the LPD Vienna said on Thursday.
Gun and bat found
The officers also found the blank pistol and a baton in a hut. The 15-year-old suspect was temporarily arrested. Furthermore, a small amount of addictive substances (presumably cannabis) was seized from him.
