On Friday evening, Viennese people from different districts saw unusual streaks of light. The heavenly phenomenon caused uncertainty. UFOs, comets or something else? Weather experts have a simple explanation for this.
Above the Augarten (Leopoldstadt), in the Leystraße (Brigittenau) or from other districts, observant passers-by noticed four mysterious beams of light above Vienna on Friday evening around 9:30 PM. Several “Krone” reader reporters photographed the unusual phenomenon.
“Superhel”
“Definitely didn’t have a dirty lens! The lights were moving and could be seen even without clouds!” said Christopher S. “It was permanent and super bright in one spot,” said another “Krone” reader.
“Came from the ground”
Everyone’s wondering, “What were those?” UFOs, comets or, given the situation in the world, even a new type of weapon system? However, weather experts have a completely natural explanation for this. “It came out of the ground. Via so-called sky emitters, which are used at events or for advertising purposes,” says UBIMET meteorologist Nikolas Zimmermann.
These very powerful light engines can produce light effects that reflect through the cloud layers. Even from 30 kilometers away, these light effects can still be seen, the statement said. So no aliens. Some people still found it scary.
