A situation that the Tyrolean police often have to deal with.
Truck drivers warned the director
What happened? According to investigators, a truck driver turned himself in to management because he had heard suspicious noises in his trailer. He must have immediately thought of illegal cross-border commuters. Traffickers continue to smuggle refugees in transit trucks to take them from country to country.
The suspicion would be confirmed moments later. “Officials did not know what to expect when they opened the door, whether they might be attacked. In such a situation, the weapon is held aloft for self-protection,” explains Kitzbühel’s district police commander Martin Reisenzein. But the situation was quick. Three Afghans had entrenched themselves on the loading floor and were immediately arrested.
