Mother donated liver – boy’s life in danger after suppositories against Mexalen fever

Date:

First a Carinthian woman had to fight for the life of her child, then for custody! The devastating side effects of one of the most popular painkillers for small children were initially blamed on women. However, something else emerged during the proceedings – and the judiciary is proposing a review of the medication.

The past few months have been doubly dramatic for a family in Carinthia: firstly, their son was in mortal danger and could only be saved by a liver donation from his mother. Then the youth care organization threatened to withdraw guardianship as a result! Only the investigation of a concerned judge changed the procedure and could now have far-reaching consequences for the pharmaceutical industry. What happened?
