Wiener Linien has investigated an incident that took place on Tuesday morning on a bus on line 13A. The driver allegedly threw a woman and her screaming toddler out of the vehicle. For safety reasons, a spokeswoman for Wiener Linien emphasized on Friday. They spoke to the driver and determined that there was no error on his part.
In principle, drivers of Wiener Linien vehicles have the right to expel passengers for two reasons: on the one hand, if they violate the house rules or the conditions of carriage, and on the other hand, if their further transportation would create dangerous situations.
The toddler screamed louder and louder
According to the Wiener Linien, that was exactly what the problem was: according to the driver’s description, the child, who he said was about four to five years old, had gotten into the bus with his mother while screaming. The two had sat in the seat directly behind the driver. When the child wanted something that his mother refused him, this caused more and more shouting.
The child should be given fresh air
The driver, feeling that his concentration was being disturbed, first spoke to the mother and advised her to change the situation by getting some fresh air with the child. The woman refused. Two or three stops later he ordered them both to get off the bus.
Couldn’t concentrate
According to Wiener Linien, his concentration was so limited that he could no longer drive the bus safely. It was emphasized that drivers are responsible for transporting passengers safely. Last but not least, the bus driver would have behaved correctly.
“That’s a child”
According to a report in the “Presse”, the action led to protests from other passengers. “Are you serious?”, “Unbelievable!”, “That’s a child”, “You can’t throw a little child off the bus because he’s crying”, “Don’t you have any children?”, “Say what the Wiener Linien? ” were some comments from other passengers.
