Protest against Israel – Palestinians go on general strike

Date:

A general strike began in the West Bank on Sunday in protest against Israeli military operations involving dead Palestinians in a refugee camp in Tulkarem and in the Gaza Strip. The Fatah movement, among others, called for the strike. According to eyewitnesses, there was hardly any traffic on the streets of Ramallah on Sunday morning and shops were closed.

Israeli soldiers killed several Palestinians again on Sunday, including a woman. The military said the 43-year-old was “knocked out” when she tried to attack soldiers with a knife at an army blockade in the West Bank. The soldiers shot the woman.

Colonists injured by booby trap
Soldiers shot two Palestinians north of Hebron. The Palestinian Health Ministry said it had been informed by Israeli authorities of the deaths of the 18- and 19-year-old men. According to the army, they had previously attacked Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint.

In the West Bank, an Israeli settler was slightly injured on Sunday when he removed a Palestinian flag near a road and an explosive device detonated.

Military deployment also in the West Bank
Tensions have also increased in the West Bank since the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip began on October 7. Israeli forces carried out a major operation there until Saturday evening. The military said they killed at least 10 gunmen.
