The Tamsweg volunteer fire brigade was alerted at 8.35 am to an operation involving hazardous substances in the municipality of Lungau. The alarm text: “Acrid odor” in the local kindergarten. 25 firefighters, including a hazardous materials vehicle, responded.
Extensive research confirmed the odor in several rooms. These were checked with a measuring device, but no abnormal measurements were found.
Ultimately, after opening the locked basement compartments in the adjacent house, an illegally parked moped was found, which was leaking gasoline and was identified as the cause of the odor.
After the moped had been removed and extensive ventilation measures had been taken, the Tamsweg fire brigade returned to action.
