A woman who fell in her home and lay on the floor for hours needed urgent help. But especially her own dog blocked the path of the rescuers.
The protective instinct of her German shepherd almost proved fatal for a 63-year-old from Emmersdorf in the Melk district on Sunday afternoon. Because the woman had fallen. She lay helpless in her home for hours before she was able to drag herself to a phone and call 911. A short time later, emergency services arrived on the scene. But the four-legged friend blocked their way. The rescuers therefore called for reinforcements.
Lured into another room
The Melk fire brigade with special equipment and officers from the police dog brigade had to arrive. Meanwhile, a neighbor familiar with the dog offered to help. She allowed the German Shepherd to calm him down and lure him into a room, which was then locked. The paramedics were then able to reach the accident victim, treat the injured person and then take him to the hospital.
