According to Ukrainian sources, Russian missiles have hit a residential area in the second largest Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. Odessa is also under fire again. Meanwhile, according to Russian information, Kiev used drones to set fire to energy facilities in Russian territories.
Sirens are blaring, people are running for cover and fearing for their lives – that is the sad daily life in Ukraine. On Wednesday morning, Russian missiles hit the city of Odessa again, Governor Oleh Kiper announced. As a result, about 30 residential buildings were destroyed.
According to state radio station Suspilne, civilian infrastructure was destroyed during the attack in Kharkov. Information about victims is still being checked, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
Russian regions are increasingly under attack
The situation is also difficult in Russia: several regions have been attacked by drones. “Our region has once again become the target of a Ukrainian drone attack,” said the governor of Russia’s Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, according to state news agency Tass. The air defense of the Russian army will be deployed. The enemy attack on civilian energy facilities caused fires. There were no deaths or injuries, he later added.
Videos of a large fire that reportedly started at a refinery in Yartsevo province, 60 kilometers northeast of Smolensk, were shared on social networks. Neighbors report several explosions.
According to images, an oil factory in the western Russian region of Voronezh was also hit. At sunrise you can see huge flames shooting out of a cistern. Officially, Governor Alexander Gusev only confirmed the downing of four drones and a fire in a residential house in a garden – reportedly caused by debris from a crashed drone.
A drone attack was also reported in the Russian city of Lipetsk. A drone crashed in the industrial area and no injuries were reported, Tass reported, citing the region’s governor.
More than two years of war
Russia started its war of aggression against Ukraine more than two years ago. The Russian army also regularly shells civilian objects in the hinterland. At the same time, Russian regions are increasingly complaining about shelling from the Ukrainian side. However, the number of victims and the extent of the damage cannot be compared to the scale of the destruction caused by Russia.
