Five horses from the Household Cavalry, including one drenched in blood, fled to central London after throwing off their riders during their morning exercise. Four people were injured in the incident.
At least one soldier was injured when frightened horses suddenly spooked and collided with cars outside the Clermont Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road in Victoria.
Eyewitnesses said the soldier screamed in pain. He received first aid at the scene of the accident.
Shortly after the incident, other military horses became frightened, threw off their riders and ran away. Videos (see above) show two horses wearing saddles and bridles running down a street in London’s West End.
Horses collided with road users
One of the horses reportedly crashed into a double-decker bus and smashed the windshield. Another is said to have collided with a taxi. A black SUV with flashing lights followed the animals and the animals were caught again.
