North Korea – very little of the politically isolated and heavily sanctioned country officially reaches the outside world, certainly not to the West. Or so they thought. But it turns out that some of North Korea’s approximately 26 million residents secretly and quietly supply cartoons to production companies, which then end up in their living rooms via streaming giants.

A misconfigured cloud server provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of North Korean animation outsourcing, showing how foreign companies can inadvertently enlist North Korean companies for information technology projects.
