Another Boeing plane lost a part during a flight. Shortly after takeoff, an emergency slide came loose from a Delta Airlines plane in New York – so far there is no trace of the crashed part.
The series of bankruptcies of the American aircraft manufacturer shows no signs of ending. The emergency slide of an older Boeing 767-300 came loose on Friday, shortly after the plane took off from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York for Los Angeles. The pilots then returned. There were 183 people on board, but fortunately no one was injured in the incident.
In this article you can see the affected aircraft – there is a hole in the fuselage where the emergency slide was:
Pilots noticed vibrations, warnings and strange noises
The crew said they felt a vibration before the incident. The pilots also received a warning about the emergency slide on the right side of the plane after takeoff and heard an unusual noise. A state of emergency was then declared in order to quickly land back in New York. The airline announced that the plane was able to taxi to a gate under its own power.
The search is on for the lost emergency slide
The aircraft was eventually withdrawn from service and will be subject to a thorough investigation. The aircraft was delivered to Delta Airlines in 1990. Delta Airlines also said it is cooperating with investigators and the search for the lost slide continues. The Federal Aviation Administration would investigate the matter.
Incidents also occur with brand new Boeing aircraft
Airplane manufacturer Boeing is in crisis after numerous safety incidents. At the beginning of January, a fuselage part of a brand new 737 MAX 9 aircraft came loose – this incident also went smoothly, no one was injured and the Alaska Airlines aircraft was able to land again without any problems. A Boeing 777 lost a tire and damaged several cars when it crashed to the ground in March. A few weeks ago, a Boeing 737-800 had to return after a cowling came loose. This incident also happened shortly after the plane took off.
