The allegations against a Carinthian primary school teacher are serious. The teacher allegedly hit one of her students with slippers, pushed him off a chair and insulted other children. The education board now pulled the cord and suspended the teacher.
The incident at a primary school in Carinthia is said to have taken place at the end of April. The teacher allegedly pushed the student from the group so hard that the boy fell from the chair to the floor. But the teacher’s attack apparently didn’t end there. Because then she would have hit the student’s head with her slippers.
“Unfortunately, I can confirm the incident,” said Isabella Penz, education director in Carinthia.
Several children were attacked
The matter became public because several students and a teacher witnessed the teacher’s attack. The second teacher eventually turned to the school management, who took further action against the teacher. After other students became aware of the act of violence, they also contacted the school management. They were also said to have been pinched, had their hair pulled or rudely insulted by the teacher.
Legal action initiated
For this reason, the Carinthian Education Directorate also took action: “Legal action and dismissal procedures were immediately initiated,” said Penz.
The matter is now being handled by the education directorate together with the school management. The affected children would now receive educational and psychological care.
