A huge explosion in a single-family home rocked a residential area in the municipality of Hart near Graz on Thursday morning. The fire brigade rescued the 72-year-old resident from the rubble with serious injuries.
The destroyed house is inaccessible
As the police announced on Friday, the 72-year-old is now out of danger. He is in intensive care and is recovering, says police spokesman Fritz Grundnig. Further investigation was carried out into the gas container, the possible cause of the explosion. The man is not yet suitable for questioning. The building is badly damaged and inaccessible.
“We expect more information from an interview with the man,” Grundnig said. Negligence by third parties can currently be excluded. The house, which was in danger of collapsing and which the police said could be demolished at a later date, was cordoned off by the municipality of Hart near Graz on Thursday.
