For Ilona Rath (75) from Lichtenberg in Upper Austria, the world collapsed at the end of last year. As if it wasn’t enough that her husband was seriously ill, the bank also made things difficult for her. In the ‘Krone’ she tells her story, which actually sounds incredible.
“My husband was admitted to hospital in mid-December 2023 and it was predictable that he would not be able to leave the hospital so quickly. His condition deteriorated very quickly. “Unfortunately, until then we had not been sure that I had permission to sign on his account,” the 75-year-old said. Now that they wanted to do it again, Josef Rath (76) signed a power of attorney in the presence of a nurse. But the shock then followed in a branch of Bank Austria in Linz.
