After the attack on SPD MEP Matthias Ecke, an AfD campaign stand in Dresden was destroyed. The police tracked down the suspects after information from witnesses. The state security service has taken over the investigation into the material damage.
Two 23-year-old women and a 28-year-old man attacked a party information stand in the outskirts of Neustadt on Saturday afternoon, damaging displays, posters and a table, police announced on Sunday. The 54-year-old stand operator was not injured.
In addition, a group of twenty young people apparently randomly damaged 21 election posters for the AfD, the FDP, the CDU and the left in the Striesen district on Sunday evening.
Incidents also in Leipzig
A witness called the police, who caught a 17-year-old red-handed as he destroyed a left-wing poster on Schandauer Strasse – where European Parliament member Ecke and a Green Party campaign worker were attacked on Friday evening.
Election posters of various parties were also damaged in Leipzig, police said. In the Marienbrunn district, unknown people removed about fifty posters from the wall on Saturday and partially tore them up or burned them. Two posters attached to a street lamp were burned in the Neulindenau district. Two posters were also removed in Taucha (North Saxony district).
