War in Ukraine – Russia threatens to attack British targets

Date:

While the US insists that Ukrainian forces only use American missiles against targets in the war-torn country itself, the British government leaves Kiev free to decide how the weapons supplied are used. This was recently confirmed by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron. Moscow is now threatening attacks on British military targets.

Britain’s ambassador to Moscow, Nigel Casey, has been warned by the Foreign Office that the “response to Ukrainian attacks involving British weapons on Russian territory could affect any British military installation and equipment on Ukrainian territory and beyond,” it said on Monday.

According to the British news agency PA, Foreign Secretary Cameron emphasized on Thursday during his visit to Kiev that it is up to the Ukrainian government to decide how the weapons supplied are used. Russia has attacked Ukraine and Ukraine has the right to strike back. Asked whether this included targets in Russia itself, he said: “This is a decision for Ukraine and Ukraine has this right.”

Putin orders nuclear exercises
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday ordered nuclear weapons exercises involving the air force, navy and soldiers near Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the exercises as a Russian response to statements by French President Emmanuel Macron and other Western politicians about the possible deployment of ground troops in Ukraine.
