At least 18 people have been killed in the ongoing attacks carried out in the early morning hours. The bombings took place after Hamas accepted a ceasefire offer. Israel says it will continue negotiations while bombards eastern Rafah.
At least 18 Gazans died early this Tuesday in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, after a night of continuous bombardment by the Israeli army, after the war cabinet announced it would not halt its offensive despite continuing to exhaust the possibility of an truce.
The first night of what Israel calls ‘Operation Rafah’ was marked by “an audible flight and intense fire from helicopters”, in addition to artillery bombardment of areas near the Rafah crossing, which is not operational, and on the southernmost part of the border enclave (block 270).
The Israeli military has not yet provided any further details about last night’s air offensive in eastern Rafah after ordering the evacuation of the area in the morning, apart from a vague statement last night announcing “selective strikes.”
