A young woman from Mühlviertel was given a second chance by justice three years ago after a riot. But that probably hasn’t cleared her up, because the woman is again the main suspect in a new series of fires. The 19-year-old is said to have extinguished the fires himself.
“For the comrades of the affected fire brigade, the news that the suspect could be one of them is of course very bad. We support our comrades wherever we can.” – The Upper Austrian State Fire Command has often had to deal with black sheep in its own ranks, so they know what to do.
Eyewitnesses saw them nearby
Also in the series of fires in Feldkirchen and Goldwörth: the 19-year-old main suspect is a firefighter. As prosecutor Reinhard Huemer-Steiner confirmed, the suspect was seen, among other things, near fires.
And she was always there to put out the fire and reported a fire herself: two piles of wood and two sheds were on fire. “She denies everything,” says the judiciary, which is now hoping for solid evidence through cell phone analysis and examination of the young woman’s seized clothing.
Disqualification after conviction
“In such cases, the fire brigade law prescribes exactly what happens. A suspension is imposed during the criminal proceedings; there will be a conviction and expulsion from the fire brigade,” explains Markus Voglhuber of the Upper Austrian State Fire Command. Nothing has been initiated at this time because there is only suspicion and no official criminal proceedings.
Got away with distraction
The supposedly innocent firefighter was given a second chance after – as reported – she took responsibility for a series of fires in Feldkirchen three years ago and got away with distraction and therefore without a criminal record.
“The fire brigade is a place where people who find themselves in difficult personal situations can find support and meaningful work,” explains Florianijünger, explaining the social task of the fire brigade, which has almost 96,000 members in Upper Austria. “You’re not allowed to look at anyone.”
While the investigation is still ongoing, a fire alarm went off at the fire station of Lacken (municipality of Feldkirchen/Donau) on Wednesday evening – this time it was a false alarm.
