A 38-year-old is suspected of defrauding a Lungau family and depriving them of their belongings between 2018 and 2019. During this period he stole half a million euros. The alleged perpetrator has now been arrested in Germany and transferred to the Salzburg correctional institution.
In the two years, the 38-year-old is said to have caused a total of more than half a million euros in damage. According to the Salzburg State Police, the suspect allegedly pretended to be a wealthy and successful businessman and thus deceived his victims.
Deceived family and company
With this scam he stole approximately 300,000 euros from a family from Lungau. Those affected were tricked into making investments. Another Austrian company also suffered damages of more than 240,000 euros due to its fraud.
The man went into hiding and was arrested in Germany at the end of March on the basis of an EU arrest warrant. “On May 7, he was transferred to the Salzburg Correctional Institution. He will be reported to the Salzburg Public Prosecutor for serious and commercial fraud,” the investigators said.
