Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl in a telephone scam in the German city of Schweinfurt in northern Bavaria. The suspect is currently in custody, the police and the Public Prosecution Service announced on Thursday.
The elderly person had previously recognized the fraud attempt and notified the police.
A cheeky trick
The 14-year-old allegedly called the 84-year-old on Tuesday and pretended to be her husband’s daughter.
Girl wanted to steal 225,000 euros from an elderly person
In a tearful voice, the teen accused her of causing a fatal traffic accident, police said. The senior must now give her 225,000 euros for the deposit. During the telephone conversation, the detective arrived.
There was already an open warrant for the juvenile’s arrest for a similar crime. It was said that she was already known to the officials from similar cases.
