A 35-year-old was seen by a neighbor breaking into a family home in Villach on Friday. After a short chase, the thieves were arrested by the police.
Shortly before 10 a.m., the observant woman from Villach saw the 35-year-old enter a family home. The woman immediately alerted the police, who went to the house with a large contingent.
When the thieves noticed the officers, he fled with his loot. “Two police officers then chased the perpetrator on foot and simultaneously fired a so-called signal shot to warn the other troops of the escapee’s position,” police said.
During his escape, the burglar lost a backpack containing the previously stolen jewelry. And after a short chase with police, the handcuffs finally clicked on the 35-year-old.
The stolen loot was returned to the 62-year-old owner. The man from Villach must now expect a hefty complaint from the Public Prosecution Service.
