Devastating skiing accident Friday on the Stubai Glacier in Tyrol: a 63-year-old German collided with a local man (37) on the slopes. While the former lost all his equipment from the force of the impact and suffered minor injuries, the 37-year-old suffered even worse, losing consciousness and sustaining serious injuries.
According to the police, the collision took place on the red lane number 17, also known as the Daunfernerschuss. The German and the Austrian collided in a flatter area. Both fell.
“The massive collision caused the 63-year-old to lose all his belongings such as skis, poles, goggles and helmet. The 37-year-old remained unconscious on the slopes for a short time,” the director said.
With an emergency helicopter to the clinic
The local population suffered serious injuries and several bruises and was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter. The German escaped with minor injuries and did not seek medical treatment.
