Aid in Lower Austria is crucial – How space experts predict solar storms

Date:

The flight lasted three and a half years: the “Solar Orbiter” has now reached orbit around the sun. ESA’s probe has already set a record: the human instrument has come closest to the gas ball. The ‘Krone’ knows why this happened at exactly the right time and why a Lower Austrian company did one of the ‘hottest’ parts of it.

It is a beautiful play of colors and you rarely see it in our area: the northern lights, which have caused surprised looks in recent days. On the other hand, these celestial phenomena indicate the increasing occurrence of solar winds hitting Earth’s magnetic field. And this can also lead to less “fun” effects: especially if a solar wind turns into a solar storm, this can have consequences for sensitive electronic installations on Earth.
