Hardly a minister of Environment has polarized such as Leonore Gewessler. Apparently some have an invoice in the political stage with the Greens. The “Krone” recently reported that Gewessler emptied a few billion dollars of environmental financing within two years, although the support budget was erected for five years.
The costs for the green prestige project of Gewessler – namely the strategic research of the construction of the loft tunnel – are also exorbitant. The costs were published on the homepage of the Ministry of Infrastructure. According to the insider, the cost estimate for the test report would have been less than 200,000 euros lower. It was around 260,000 euros.
The ecological effects of the planned S1 extension with tunnels and alternatives were investigated, among other things. However, the traffic model would have been adjusted during the test report, which increased the workload. When asked “Krone” at the Federal Environment Agency, the costs were exploded in this way. Green justify the costs
In the meantime, the Greens emphasized that different variants were being investigated and the Lobau fast road was the most expensive and worst. Given a mega project of € 6 billion, the 500,000 euros are well invested. “We now expect the new federal government to take science seriously and that the grave of billion dollars will finally be canceled,” said the greens statement.
The new Minister of Infrastructure Peter Hanke (Spö) is clearly not enough. The ministry said at the request of “Krone”: “We will order an internal investigation to increase how this amount took place.”
