Teacher infected – monkey pox: case at primary school in Stockerau

Date:

The monkey pox has now also reached the district of Korneuburg in Lower Austria. A teacher has tested positive for the virus and is in quarantine. It goes on like this in the class of the person concerned.

By order of the health authorities, the infected person must now be quarantined for 21 days. Traffic restrictions also apply to the students in the affected class, but they are still allowed to come to school. The children have to wear FFP2 masks for three weeks and the breaks are arranged so that they have no contact with other classes. In addition, the class was allocated its own sanitary room. The school ensures that sufficient mask breaks are observed.

Message chain worked perfectly
The municipality reacted immediately and notified the city doctor, after which the Stockerau volunteer fire brigade immediately disinfected the surface. According to office director Christina Pinggera, the reporting chain ran perfectly. According to Pinggera, this is certainly due to the experiences with regard to the corona situation. She’s not assuming an infection.

Procedure for a positive result
If a positive or laboratory-confirmed case is reported, the responsible health authority issues a divorce certificate. This will remain until you are no longer contagious. A medical statement must be submitted for this. In addition, persons with whom the infected person has had contact are registered. In Lower Austria it is already possible to be vaccinated against monkey pox after the outbreak of the disease.

It is the first case of monkey pox in the Korneuburg district. According to AGES, 286 cases have been reported in Austria since May 9, of which 91 are now considered recovered.
