The employees of Austria are in the mood: according to a current Gallup survey, the job loses the importance for many 46 percent of employees who still look with confidence in the future. This remains a worrying trend – satisfaction had already decreased considerably the previous year.
Especially striking: although many are dissatisfied, only 20 percent of the respondents seriously think of a job change. Emotional attachment to the profession? No!
Little willingness to change despite a bad mood
Only nine percent of employees explain that they are full of dedication and conviction at work – one of the lowest values in all of Europe. Its paradox: the chances of a new start are good. 64 percent regards the current time as suitable for the search for a new job.
Dragging and loss of trust as a burden
The reasons for the bad mood are complex. Gallup analyst Marco Nink mentions, among other things, the increasing costs of living, concerns about the health system and decreasing trust in politics and companies as the main cause. The growing dissatisfaction with affordable living space and an increasing perception of corruption also noticeable the Austrians.
The good news is: the standard of living in Austria is still very high, “and the level of experienced anger, loneliness and sorrow remains low,” Nink explains.
Productivity losses cost billions
However, the low emotional attachment at work also has economic consequences. According to Gallup, this creates an annual loss of productivity of around 51.7 billion euros – this corresponds to around eleven percent of the domestic economic output.
Scandinavia the most satisfied
In a European comparison, Austria took only 20th place with its low satisfaction. Show the most satisfied people in Finland, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden. On the other side of the scale: Germany and Switzerland, where the burglary of life satisfaction has been even stronger.
