An unknown man explained that he was just looking for a hotel after being barked by an 82-year-old’s dog on her property in Wilhering (Upper Austria). The pensioner later discovered that two gold chains were missing and several drawers had been opened.
An 82-year-old woman only briefly left her home in Wilhering on Monday afternoon, leaving the front door open. Apparently a brazen thief took advantage of this. When the resident returned, her dog was barking at an unknown man who was on the property.
He explained that he was looking for a hotel and then ran away. According to police, the 82-year-old then discovered that two gold chains were missing and that several drawers had been opened.
Search without success
An immediate search for the still unknown perpetrator was initially unsuccessful.
The sneaky theft was discovered by the victim’s 54-year-old neighbor, who called the police around 12:30 p.m.
