A collision between a car and a racing bicycle took place in Marchtrenk on Tuesday afternoon. At an intersection, the driver (45) collided with the cyclist (55) while turning. The elderly man was seriously injured in the crash and had to be taken to Welsh Hospital.
The 45-year-old driver from Buchkirchen wanted to turn left at an intersection between Westbahnstrasse (L 1232) and L 1228 in Marchtrenk. At that moment, however, a 55-year-old from Pichl near Wels came by on his racing bike.
A collision was the result. The cyclist was thrown to the ground and suffered a serious pelvic fracture as a result of the forceful impact.
After receiving initial care from the emergency physician, the 55-year-old had to be taken to the Wels Clinic for further medical treatment.
