Florianis was alerted to a forest fire in the Mödling district on Wednesday. The fire broke out on a difficult-to-reach mountain ridge between Anninger and the Hussar Temple. An area of ​​approximately 900 square meters was affected. A campfire caused the fire, police reported Thursday. Investigations are underway into unknown perpetrators.

More than a hundred emergency services were deployed and helicopters were also used to extinguish the fire. The helpers searched on foot for the source of the fire. This was eventually found on a difficult to reach ridge and brought under control with hand tools.

According to the district command, a “fire was extinguished” in the evening. Troops from the fire air service of the Lower Austrian State Fire Brigade Association and two helicopters from the Ministry of the Interior were also called in to extinguish the fire in the area between Mödling, Hinterbrühl and Gaaden.
