A speed camera saboteur who has damaged several speed cameras in northern Italy in recent months has apparently fallen into the net of investigators. The carabinieri in the northern Italian city of Rovigo have reported a 42-year-old metalworker. He is suspected of sabotaging at least five of the eight speed cameras damaged in Rovigo province in 2023.
Tools that he allegedly used in the destruction were seized from the home of the man from the province of Padua. The metalworker was identified through review of video surveillance cameras. He had sawed off the support mast of the radar traps with a cutting disk. That is why the saboteur was called “Fleximan” by the media. He risks a prison sentence of up to three years and a fine of 5,000 euros for vandalism and damage.

In recent months, several speed checks have been illegally ‘deactivated’ in northern Italy. A cult has arisen around the unknown man. He was celebrated on social networks as the ‘Robin Hood of drivers’. A total of 24 devices have now been destroyed, including in Lombardy and Trentino.
