A major fire broke out in a farm building in Lower Austria on Saturday morning. A total of 107 firefighters had to be deployed to fight the fire. Fortunately, all 120 dairy cows were saved from a painful death.
The flames broke out in the early morning hours in Weistrach (Amstetten district). When the fire brigade arrived, the roof of a hay barn was already completely on fire. 10 fire brigades with 107 emergency services spent several hours trying to get the fire under control.
High material damage
The operation prevented the flames from spreading to the Squarerhof residential building. According to the fire brigade, the fire has been under control since 8 a.m., but a large contingent is still busy breaking fire materials by hand and extinguishing embers, according to a statement.
No one was injured, but the damage to the roof structure and hay storage was probably extensive.
