In the middle of the Pentecost weekend trip, climate activists took place at several locations in Austria. Given the resulting traffic disruption, some drivers probably blew their fuses…
Around 10 a.m., activists from the “Last Generation” and “Extinction Rebellion” started two protests at the Lustenau border crossing and the Hohenems roundabout (A14), also near the border between Switzerland and Diepoldsau. As the police announced, some climate demonstrators had also stuck to the road.
Activist hit by car
Given the resulting traffic jam, some motorists were hit and angry passers-by and motorists sometimes tried to get the activists off the road themselves. A protester was slightly hit by a car as the driver tried to continue his journey.
A total of three activists suffered minor abrasions, police said. The officers eventually intervened, broke up the meeting and, after laboriously removing the climate stickers, removed them from the road.
Mega traffic jams in travel traffic
Actions also took place in Salzburg and Tyrol, some of which led to enormous traffic disruptions. In general, however, it was mainly due to Pentecost that drivers sometimes had to accept enormous waiting times.
