During a tandem flight with a paraglider, two Germans (55 and 20 years old) fell to the ground in virtual free fall from a height of about 30 meters in Tyrol on Saturday. The two men were seriously injured.
On Saturday afternoon, a 55-year-old German and his 20-year-old nephew went on a tandem paraglider flight from the Unterberghorn in Kössen (Kitzbühel district). “Around 1:40 p.m., the 55-year-old probably flew a so-called acro maneuver at too low an altitude. However, this failed and the umbrella could no longer absorb any airflow,” the police said.
Flown to hospitals
The 55-year-old fell with his 20-year-old passenger in a virtual free fall from about 20 to 30 meters to the ground. The two men were seriously injured and were flown by emergency helicopter to the clinic in Rosenheim or to the Kufstein district hospital.
