“Krone” on site – “Tutto Gas” in Lignano: the party evening escalated

Date:

Drugs, thefts, fights, material damage, excessive alcohol consumption – after the ‘quiet’ start on Friday, the emergency services had their hands full with the second evening of partying in the popular seaside resort.

“No major incidents” – that was (as reported) the conclusion of the security forces after the first “Tutto Gas” party evening on the Upper Adriatic. But on the night from Saturday to Sunday it looked completely different. Thousands of others joined the crowds of party tourists who had already arrived on Saturday morning and into Friday morning.

“Consumed a lot of alcohol”
The mood in the party epicenter of Lignano was simmering – and increasingly intense. “It was very hot and most people were partying hard on the beach all day and drinking alcohol,” Villach police officer Martin Marco told “Krone”. Who therefore only got a few hours of sleep.

“Over the course of the night, one operation followed another. We haven’t had anything like this for a long time.” According to the officer, a “not insignificant amount” of drugs was seized. And except for heroin, everything was there. Some they bought here in Lignano, but some were ‘imported’ by the suspected party tourists In any case, the drug-sniffing dogs deployed by the Italian colleagues could hardly find peace in the crowd.

Arguments among revelers
As we’ve seen several times, many revelers also violently bumped into each other. And let their fists do the talking. “There have even been countless phone calls due to physical altercations,” says Martin Marco. Although usually without serious injury – and criminal consequences. Many people have refrained from filing charges.

There were also numerous reports of stolen mobile phones and/or wallets. It is not yet clear whether this is the work of gangs of impostors who have traveled specifically to the scene. ‘You can’t say that. But many partygoers are simply too careless with their valuables and leave them lying around somewhere. And as we know: opportunities create opportunities for thieves.”

Manhole cover stolen
The innumerable damage to property caused particular annoyance – and very “funny” fellows who mocked the “putting in” of manhole covers and their removal. “An irresponsible safety risk that can lead to serious injuries. No one assumes that there will suddenly be a hole in the road. Certainly not if you walk home drunk.”

There is also general shaking of the head among the very “sporty” party tourists, who probably find it particularly “cool” and impressive to climb trees or palm trees completely drunk. And ultimately cause unnecessary rescue missions. Not to mention all the unnecessary material damage around the party hotspot in the shopping street.

“Most people just want to party”
“These are exactly the ones who make all young Austrians look bad outside the borders. But the majority of young people just want to party hard and have fun. And he also adheres to the rules,” resident Francesco told “Krone”.

The emergency services had hoped that the last evening of celebration would be quieter and that many tourists had already left. However, there was still a lot of activity on the beaches on Sunday. And: Contrary to usual, many guests only arrived on Sunday – to celebrate at least one evening on Pentecost Monday. And – detail on the side: there is also a lot to celebrate for the countless Sturm Graz fans present.
