Bilbao municipal police officers have for the time being ruled out the continuation of the protests due to the changed working conditions. In fact, the unions believe that important progress has been made in open negotiations with the city council, partly because the Bilbao city council has withdrawn its proposal to organize the group into five shifts. For this reason, they exclude mobilizations like the one on May 26.

The city council wanted to change the calendar of the municipal police of Bilbao from seven to five shifts, a schedule model with which, for example, the Ertzaintza and other municipal police bodies are organized. The intent was to take and move troops from the day shift during the week to reinforce the weekends and nights.

However, the workers did not agree with this change, because it would, among other things, mean a setback in reconciling work and family, as they would have to work more hours at night and on weekends.

Now that this change has been ruled out for now, both sides have been looking for other solutions to solve the problem of agent shortages on weekends and overnight.
