34 troops deployed – apartment building in Graz was on fire

Residents of a house in Wetzelsdorf, Styria, woke up on Saturday to flames and heavy clouds of smoke. The roof structure had caught fire, fortunately everyone was able to escape outside. One person was slightly injured. 34 members of the Graz fire brigade were on duty. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

At seven o’clock on Saturday morning, the Graz fire brigade received several calls. A house in a settlement in Wetzelsdorf caught fire. Smoke came from the roof.

Fortunately, all residents had already escaped independently. However, one resident was slightly injured and was immediately treated by the emergency services.

To fight the fire, the fire brigade had to remove a large part of the roof. This required a large deployment of personnel: ten emergency vehicles and 34 men were on site. The fire was extinguished by half past seven.

Two of the residential units were particularly hard hit; they are currently uninhabitable. The Styrian police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
