Had a pig (or swan)! A whitewater bird thanks its professional rescue to an attentive neighbor. Because he couldn’t run enough to take off, he had to be rescued from the roof of a house in Ansfelden on Thursday by animal control and two volunteer fire brigades.
After a swan landed on the roof of a neighboring house and could not leave it even after several hours due to lack of running, a concerned woman from Ansfeld called the Animal Protection Society of Upper Austria for help on Thursday. Their chairman, Willy Schnebel, contacted the Freindorf volunteer fire brigade.
Still recovering
They immediately set out with the Nettingsdorf fire brigade to take the animal rescuer to the roof of the house, which was warmed by the afternoon sun. The uninjured but seriously weakened swan was removed from the roof with the help of a net and litter box. He is currently recovering together with animal rights activists and will be released by Monday at the latest.
