It should be the crowning glory of a holiday in the Tyrolean Zillertal. But an e-bike trip to Ganalm on Saturday turned out to be a horror for a group of 8 friends. A 59-year-old died in the presence of his companions.
On Saturday morning the friendly group left Fügen for Ganalm in the municipality of Terfens. After a journey of about two hours, disaster struck.
The 59-year-old suddenly complained of nausea and became increasingly sluggish. Then he stopped completely and wanted to get off the bike. But at the same moment the German simply fell over and lay lifeless on the mountain path.
Resuscitation fails
The friends immediately came to the man’s aid, started CPR and called 911. The emergency services quickly arrived on the scene and had a defibrillator with them. But all efforts were in vain. The 59-year-old could not be revived.
