Difficult operation for the fire brigade of Aschau (Schwaz district in Tyrol) Friday afternoon. A fire broke out in the boiler room of a residential building. A resident (61) was taken to hospital. The damage will likely be enormous.
A 61-year-old woman was greeted by heavy smoke and flames in the boiler room of her home Friday afternoon when she opened the boiler room door. She had previously turned on the oil boiler to heat the hot water. She immediately alerted the emergency services.
The Aschau fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly. The 61-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Schwaz district hospital for medical evaluation on suspicion of smoke poisoning.
Fire probably caused by a boiler
Initial investigation shows that the fire may have started in the boiler. “The boiler room was severely damaged by the fire. “The basement and ground floor were also heavily smoked,” fire investigators said.
The extent of the damage is currently unknown. The Aschau volunteer fire brigade with 25 emergency services, the rescue team and two police patrols with fire investigators were present.
