Taking out new mortgages is falling again in Euskadi, with a drop of 29% in March

In the third month of the year, 1,708 mortgages were formalized in Euskadi on all types of real estate. The average mortgage amount taken out in March for the purchase of a home was 165,044 euros.

New residential mortgage signings fell again in March in the Basque Country, with a sharp decline of 28.8%, following the brief recovery of 1.5% recorded in February after a year of year-on-year declines.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, INE, the decline exceeds the average decline for the state, of -18.1%, and places the autonomous community in third place with the largest decline, after Castilla y León (-31.2 %). and the Canary Islands (-31.7%). The only two autonomy with positive values ​​are Navarra (+21.4%) and Madrid (+1.5%).

In the third month of the year, 1,708 mortgages were formalized in Euskadi on all types of real estate: 1,689 on urban properties and 19 on rural properties. Of the urban properties, 1,357 concerned homes, 5 concerned plots and 327 concerned other types of buildings, such as offices, garages and storage spaces.

The average mortgage amount taken out for the purchase of a home in March was 165,044 euros, compared to 155,000 the month before.

That month there were also 392 register changes of mortgages in the autonomous community: 253 due to novation, 13 due to subrogation of the debtor and 126 due to subrogation of the creditor. The number of canceled mortgages on homes was 1,582.
