A cargo ship was hit by missiles – believed to be fired by Houthi rebels – off the coast of Yemen on Tuesday morning and was delisted. This is reported by Ambrey, a British maritime security company.
The crew made a distress call. Accordingly, water enters the ship. The cargo ship is located in the open sea, approximately 54 nautical miles (approximately 100 kilometers) southwest of the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah (Al Hudaydah).
Ships are advised to exercise caution when passing through the strait between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and to report any suspicious activity, the British Maritime Trade Authority (UMMTO) wrote on X (formerly Twitter, see post above).
Since November, Iran-allied Houthi rebels have carried out repeated drone and missile attacks in the Red Sea. They justify the attacks as an act of solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the militant Islamist Hamas in the war with Israel.
