Spring is time for baby animals: Alpine Zoo Innsbruck is happy again with cute offspring. This recently happened to ibexes, chamois and beavers, among others.
With the ibexes and chamois, the little ones are already busy exploring their new home. Visitors can also watch one or two brave jumps from rock to rock.
However, things are much more comfortable for the beavers at the moment. Here you will spend most of the day cuddling with your offspring.
Lots of family time in the beaver den
“The mating season for beavers is between January and February. After about 106 days, three young are usually born. They are cared for by their mother for two to three months, but already two weeks after birth they nibble on plant stems and twigs,” says the Alpine Zoo.
The family life of beavers is very distinctive. “They spend the day together in the beaver den. This is especially important at low temperatures, so that the young animals do not cool down too much and are warmed up by the older animals,” the officials explain in conclusion.
