Two women had to go through hell in Vienna late Wednesday evening. In Döbling, a 52-year-old was threatened with a knife by her husband; in Favoriten, a 21-year-old pulled out a machete and threatened his ex-girlfriend (20). Both men were arrested.
In a panic, the 20-year-old called the emergency number in Favoriten shortly after 10 p.m. Why? She was allegedly threatened with a machete by her ‘ex’. However, the suspect was able to flee in the meantime; only the alleged victim was found at the scene by emergency services. Thanks to an immediate search, the 21-year-old was quickly arrested.

“He is said to have recently threatened not only his ex-girlfriend, but also several family members by telephone,” police spokeswoman Julia Schick reported on Thursday. The Austrian was temporarily arrested on suspicion of dangerous threats. The officers found the machete, pepper spray and brass knuckles in his backpack.

Less than two hours later, another woman in Döbling raised the alarm: she allegedly got into an argument with her 53-year-old husband. He then allegedly pulled a knife and threatened her with it. During the incident, the two’s minor children are also said to have witnessed everything up close. “When the officers from the Döbling city police command arrived, the mood between the couple was still very heated,” Schick explains.
After the facts were clarified, the 53-year-old was temporarily arrested on suspicion of dangerous threats. An entry and approach ban was issued, as well as a temporary weapons ban.
