In Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, schools will remain closed from June 29 to September 2, in the other states the long-awaited summer holidays start on July 6 and last until September 8. For many children it is the most wonderful time of the year – often a logistical challenge for their parents. Nine weeks of summer vacation plus a few extra school-free days per year is typically compared to five weeks of vacation per working adult.
