Following the historic guilty verdict against former US President Donald Trump for covering up a hush money payment, former porn actress Stormy Daniels, who was involved in the case, has called for Trump to be jailed. “Put him in jail,” the 45-year-old told the British newspaper Daily Mirror this weekend.
“I think he should be sentenced to prison and do community service for the less fortunate, or serve as a volunteer punching bag at a women’s shelter,” added the porn actress, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
It was her first interview since the ex-president was found guilty (2017-2021).
Court testimony was ‘intimidating’
Stormy Daniels claims to have had a sex affair with Trump in 2006, which he denies. To prevent the alleged affair from becoming known shortly before the 2016 presidential election, Trump arranged a hush money payment of $130,000 (about 122,000 euros), which he disguised as legal fees.
Testifying in court was “intimidating” because “the jury was looking at you,” Daniels said, adding that she was “telling the truth the whole time.”
She spoke extensively in court about the sex affair with Trump, which she said took place consensually, but in which the balance of power was out of balance. The porn actress explained that the case would “never be over” for her and that she would have to live with the consequences.
Guilty verdict for Trump
On Thursday, Trump became the first ex-president in US history to be found guilty in a criminal trial. More than five months before the US presidential election, a jury in New York found the 77-year-old guilty of all 34 charges in the hush money trial. The verdict will be announced on July 11.
Trump criticized the proceedings against him as “very unfair.” Shortly after the guilty verdict, his campaign released a fundraising appeal titled “I’m a Political Prisoner!”
The 77-year-old is expected to run for Republicans against Democratic incumbent Joe Biden in the November 5 presidential election.
