After a ‘skid’, a 19-year-old driver landed his car upside down in a flooding stream in Upper Austria. A witness responded with presence of mind and freed the young man from the wreckage. Miraculously, the 19-year-old was unharmed.
A 19-year-old from Zell an der Pram was very lucky in a traffic accident on Saturday around 4:15 p.m. He had previously driven his car on the L1065 in pouring rain. In a right-hand bend in the town of Riegerting, the young driver crashed into oncoming traffic and onto the shoulder before leaving the road to the right and crashing into a tree trunk.
Back door torn open
This caused the car to overturn and land on its roof in a flooding stream. An unknown first aid worker prevented things from getting worse. He jumped into the stream and ripped open the back door of the car with full force, allowing the 19-year-old to climb out himself. The latter was taken to hospital as a precaution.
No injuries noted
However, no injuries were found there. Without the immediate assistance of the stranger, the accident would probably have gone unnoticed for a long time, as the stream is densely vegetated and therefore very difficult to see.
